  • We’re looking for a Freight Coordinator to join our dynamic team!


The Over-the-Road (OTR) Freight Coordinator is responsible for effectively managing the daily work assignments of a designated group of 20-25 OTR drivers.  This includes load planning, order management, driver & equipment management, payload efficiencies, & administrative support.  The OTR Freight Coordinator reports to the OTR Driver Manager but will work closely with all members of the Corporate Logistics team.


Here’s a look into what you will be doing in this role:

  • Create and manage OTR driver load plans using Oracle, Nistevo, LoadMaster, Tooling schedule, and cross-functional communication 
  • Manage fleet efficiency by collecting, recording, and reporting on daily driver activity
  • Responsible for accurate, cross-charge journal entries to properly allocate freight costs
  • Evaluate and recommend driver performance reviews in collaboration with the OTR Driver Manager.
  • Manage personnel / HR issues such as driver discipline, complaints, time off requests, etc. 
  • Evaluate Fleet vs. CC alternatives  
  • Access Oracle Open Order Pool to find available orders            
  • Facilitate maintenance (routine & emergency) and troubleshoot breakdowns 
  • Manifest, update driver status, and close trips in LoadMaster
  • Monitor driver route selection    
  • Coordinate and maintain driver uniforms, cell phones, electronic toll collection systems, load supplies, and equipment needs 
  • Troubleshoot “missing miles” issues between Oracle & LoadMaster 
  • Manage driver qualification (DQ) file compliance
  • Conduct quarterly safety training
  • Monitor and manage driver safety events through PeopleNet 
  • Make delivery & pick-up appointments
  • Monitor and manage driver hours-of-service (HOS) logs through PeopleNet 
  • Collect, review, and maintain driver trip reports
  • Understand and practice ADS Core Values & Leadership behaviors 
  • Requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and off-hours / on-demand (on-call) as needed. 
  • Submit trip envelopes for fuel tax reporting 

The person in this role should possess the following skills & knowledge:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and team building skills
  • Ability to listen effectively 
  • Understanding of the complexity and changing dynamic of dispatching loads; the ability to create contingency plans & remain flexible
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal DOT regulations and freight issues
  • Courteous, friendly, and positive representation of ADS and the Logistics Team 
  • Familiarity with ADS products
  • Effective written & oral communication 
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management     
  • Ability to stay organized & quickly switch from task to task 
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Office

Educational Requirements:

  • Undergraduate college degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred      

Preferred Experience:

  • Logistics / supply chain background 
  • Prior dispatching experience     
  • Customer service experience
  • Federal DOT compliance
