    The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, architecture, and support of the Windows Server environment. The role researches, designs, and implements server infrastructure technologies while performing core support functions for the virtual and physical infrastructure across the enterprise. Supports cloud infrastructure. This includes working knowledge of cloud infrastructure components and automation, SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS with providers such as Azure, AWS, and Oracle. This role will own the support and administration of Microsoft Office 365 services and related Cloud technology solutions, including delivering messaging and collaboration projects. As a senior member of the team, the role will be responsible for communications to IT management as well as our business partners. The Senior Systems Engineer will be expected to mentor other team members.


    Primary Job Responsibilities:  In this role, you will be expected to contribute to large enterprise projects from inception through implementation.


    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Active Directory design and administration, planning, testing, and application of Group Policies; Public/Private DNS administration
    • Ownership of Office 365 design and administration and support in a multi-site enterprise environment
    • Integrating enterprise environments to cloud services such as Azure, Oracle Cloud, or AWS
    • Create, modify and keep documentation with an emphasis on detail
    • Assist in periodic security tests and audits
    • Provide tier 3 support as SME for Exchange/Outlook, O365, EOP
    • Intermediate to advance scripting to support cloud collaboration applications and services
    • Other responsibilities as needed

    Job Skills:

    • Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 in an enterprise environment, supporting 100-200 servers
    • Experience should include monitoring, installation, configuration, tuning and management
    • VMware vSphere; Knowledge of SAN/NAS concepts – NetApp storage is preferred
    • Knowledge of change control processes and documentation
    • Background in messaging and voice technologies – O365, Exchange, Skype for Business
    • Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies
    • Networking concepts like TCP/IP, WANs, LANs, vLANS – and other networking protocols such as SMTP, TELNET, and SSH
    • Ability to work effectively and collaborate with 3rd party contractors and consultants
    • Certificate Authority administration, management of certs in an enterprise environment
    • Strong system administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) at the command-line level.
    • Strong scripting skillset.
    • Excellent communication skills that include listening, verbal and written skills.  Communication skills must include the ability to communicate with clients and develop appropriate documentation
    • Understanding of cloud security best practices.
    • Leverage SCCM/Ivanti tools for software distribution and patch management. Package creation and custom reporting is a plus
    • The ability to deliver complex technical projects within a tight schedule.  Must be able to prioritize and organize workload with limited supervision.  Must be able to work effectively on multiple projects at the same time
    • Planning, designing, and testing DR/Business Continuity scenarios
    • Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, IT, or computer information systems or equivalent work experience in a related field

    Preferred Experience:

    • 5-7 years experience administrating a windows server environment, including Windows 2008, 2012 and 2016, Exchange Email, File/Print Services, Active Directory, DNS, SharePoint, Backup/Recovery, and related technologies
    • 3 years experience with Active Directory Federation Services
    • 1-2 years experience using PowerShell. Other scripting skills are helpful for automating process and reporting
    • Hands-On Experience with cloud migrations including Office 365
    • 3 years’ experience with Office 365 administration and support – including Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams, Groups, SharePoint, etc)
    • Experience with IaaS and PaaS environments
    • 1-2 years experience administrating a VMware DRS Cluster, including VCenter, VSphere, ESXi

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift computer and networking equipment
