    We're looking for a Central Planning and Dispatch Logistics Specialist to join our team!

    Responsibilities

    The CP&D Logistics Specialist is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and on-time shipment of all designated interplant moves, company wide. This includes, but not limited to : tooling, raw material, interplant and purchased products. The CP&D Logistics Specialist will work closely with the local plant fleets, OTR department, and approved common carriers to determine the most efficient and cost-effective shipping method for all internal freight, without disruption to the production schedule. This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and off-hours / on-demand (on call) as needed. The CP&D Logistics Specialist reports to the Central Planning and Dispatch Manager but will work closely and receive guidance from all members of the Production Planning, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Corporate Logistics teams.

    Primary Job Responsibilities

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Proactively plan all designated shipments, without disruption to production schedule or customer demand
    • Responsible for maintaining, tracking and analyzing all inbound and outbound shipments, including working with carriers 
    • Effectively communicate and coordinate with all plants and carriers
    • Consistently chooses the most economical shipping methods
    • Schedules on-time delivery and pick up appointments
    • Proficient on TMS systems: Oracle, Loadmaster and Blu-Jay
    • Make decisions based upon Production and Tooling schedule
    • Facilitates corporate policy in regards to best shipping practices
    • Negotiate prices with carriers
    • Monitor high cost lanes and missed opportunities
    • Perform analysis on all data collected from external and internal sources and prepare monthly metrics
    • Understand and practice ADS core values and leadership behaviors

    • Familiarity with shipping characteristics of ADS products

    • Ability to create contingency plans and remain flexible
    • Courteous, friendly, and positive representation of ADS and the Logistics Team
    • Ability to stay organized and quickly switch from task to task
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Advanced computer skills including MS Office, Oracle, Loadmaster and Blu-Jay
    • Knowledge of common carrier markets

    Educational Requirements:

    • Undergraduate college degree required

    Preferred Experience:

    • Logistics/supply chain background
    • Minimum 2-3 years of dispatching experience
    • Understanding of ADS plant network
    • 1-2 years working with common carriers

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit at a minimum for 8-10 hours with a majority of computer and phone time
